Dear Friends:

As a community activist, former school board member and now a State Representative, I have been extremely involved in the community for many years.  Today I am writing to ask your help for my election campaign. 

For two decades, I have been working to help improve our community and the lives of families within it. 

In 2010, I was elected to a 2nd term in the Statehouse. In my role on the Finance Committee, I worked as a co-sponsor to pass HB371 that was signed into law by the Governor this past week to help local governments continue providing needed services to its residents.

Now I need your help.  I am up for election for the new 25th House District as a result of reapportionment starting with the March 6, 2012 Primary. The new 25th House district demographically and geographically is about the same as current 27th district I represent, just a new number is assigned to it. As we all know, getting the word out in a campaign is expensive.  The good news is you have the power to make a difference.  The State of Ohio gives us a way to help your State Representative, W. Carlton Weddington, with almost no cost!

It’s called the Ohio Political Contributions tax credit.  The State allows residents to take a dollar for dollar tax credit, up to $100 for joint filers and $50 for individuals.  This means if you send $100 (married) or $50 (single) to the Committtee to Elect W. Carlton Weddington, you can get your money back when you file your tax return!

You can think of it as a no-interest loan.  The contribution you make in 2011 will be reimbursed to you when you file your 2011 Ohio tax return. 

If you feel as strongly as I do about our state’s future and the value of caring leadership, I hope you’ll consider making a contribution to the Committee to Elect W. Carlton Weddington in December so that you can take advantage of the 2011 tax credit.  Feel free to spread the word, if you know of additional friends or family members who might also be willing to contribute.
