I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Ohio and the constituents of the District. Early voting begins end of March and the primary election is May 4. Your help is greatly appreciated to retain my seat and continue to serve the citizens of the 27th in a way of which they are accustomed to being served. 

The 27th House District is accustomed to active servant leadership that is accessible, visible, reliable and responsive. The District deserves a Representative who knows the community, has worked with community, has a vested interest and can get results. That is why I am working hard every day to serve you and this community. 

I am a loyal Democrat who has worked tirelessly on behalf of the Democratic Party. I am endorsed by the Franklin County Democratic Party, Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Franklin County Commission President John O’Grady, Congresswoman Mary Jo Kilroy, Columbus City School Board President Carol Perkins, State Treasurer Kevin L. Boyce  and The Ohio Legislative Black Caucus just to name a few.

As you are aware, I currently serve as a Member in the majority Democratic Caucus and have been assigned the Committee’s of Education; Financial Institutions, Real Estate and Securities; Agriculture and Natural Resources and I am the Vice Chair of Local Government and Public Administration. As the State Representative of the 27th House District, I have taken the initiative to serve on Ohio Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Commission, The Speed to Scale Task Force, The Food Policy Council, The Ohio Fatherhood Commission, The Ohio Commission on African-American Males and in addition serve as Chair of Cancer Caucus for the 128th General Assembly and Secretary of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus PAC and Annual Legislator’s Day Luncheon. I serve the public with honor, humility and respect in an effort to “continue the legacy of strong leadership and service” to the citizens of 27th House District.

For over Fifty (50) years, my family has served the near eastside of Columbus. My father was a family physician for over thirty (30) years; my mother has served and currently serves as a volunteer and Board member for countless service organizations and nonprofits; and I have been involved in this community from grassroots initiatives and projects to public service since graduating from Hampton University in 1992.
